Applications Invited for CMA Leaders Scholarships.

CMA is pleased to invite applications for up to $200,000 worth of scholarships to be awarded in 2012 to leaders in Christian churches and organisations. Presentations will be made at CMA's 'Courageous Leadership' conference in Melbourne, June 4-6.

Applications are invited from church and ministry leaders who have an aptitude for leadership, are committed to the cause of Christ and his Gospel, and who are in a position within a non-profit ministry organisation to use the acquired skills and knowledge strategically. Applications must be for a course of study at an institution recognised for high-calibre leadership training, with relevance to organisational leadership and management. Full eligibility criteria and program details are available online at www.cma.net.au/scholarship

Applications open on January 1, and close on February 24.

Please note that donations to the Scholarship pool are being matched $ for $ - details at the above link.

Courageous Leadership Conference: Win Two Nights at the Hilton.

CMA will be celebrating our tenth year in 2012, and our tenth conference is not to be missed! Full details will be announced in January, but super-early-bird registration is open now (at last year's prices!), and if you register by 23 December, you'll not only save some money, but also go into the draw to twin two nights accommodation at the conference hotel, the Hilton on the Park in Melbourne.

Being at the Hilton gives us some extra space - including our biggest exhibition hall ever. Already, over 20 of the available 32 booths have been sold, which is well ahead of our usual exhibition timelines.

Please mark the dates - June 4-6 - in your diary, and plan to join us as we explore some critical and current themes including Courageous Christian Leadership, the new Charity world we're entering, a special focus on Marketplace Ministry, and insights into the developing global economy and its implications for our ministries.

Coming Up Early in 2012...

Scott Rodin will be returning to Australia, and doing a one-day, clinic-style workshop in Sydney and Melbourne. Attendance is limited to 25 participants, and the day will explore in detail three key topics for ministry fundraising: Messaging (getting your story right), Media (getting your story out) and Major Gifts (connecting your major partners with your story).

Register now for Melbourne (Feb 17) at www.cma.net.au/melbourne

Will Messenger from the Theology of Work Project (www.theologyofwork.org) will be running a breakfast session, followed by a morning seminar, in Melbourne on March 15. His topic is "The Word for Work: Bridging the Gap between Sunday and Monday". Will is a global leader in the area of marketplace ministry, and these sessions will be valuable for pastors and business leaders.

Board Training Modules Continued...

The next round of Board Training Modules is taking place in February. Topics differ slightly in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, but at least one module in each location will provide a further update on the governance implications of the charity reform process.

Board members really need to stay on top of the cascading proposals and requirements emerging from the charity reform process, and CMA's brief, inexpensive sessions provide a valuable way for you to keep informed.

CMA Office Closure

The CMA office will close for staff vacation on 24 December, and reopen on January 23. Conference, exhibition and important matters will be attended to throughout this break, although response times will be slower than usual. The CMA board and staff would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your involvement throughout 2011, and to wish you a holy and blessed Christmas season as we celebrate the ultimate reason that our ministries even exist - Jesus!
