The last decade has seen numerous high profile cases of derailed leaders around the globe, which fittingly prompted calls for a re-evaluation of the dominant leadership approaches employed in leadership programs. This talk outlines servant leadership as a holistic framework of leadership that incorporates the altruistic, emotional, moral, spiritual, and transformational dimensions of leader-follower relationships. Servant leadership appears more relevant and timely than other value-laden leadership to affect sustained and significant changes in key performance indicators such as followers' trust, work commitment and employee wellbeing. The presentation also highlights the latest study findings on the impact of servant leadership on followers' trust in leaders, and the extent to which it can be applied in Australia in comparison to other countries.
