Selection Process
Two panels will process Scholarship applications: a Filtering Panel, and a Selection Panel.
The Filtering Panel, made up of two CMA staff members and a CMA Board member, will check all applications against the selection criteria to verify eligibility. This panel will filter out any applications where

The applicant does not meet the published criteria; |

The program or course of study does not meet the published criteria; or |

|
The application has not addressed the requested criteria. |
The filtering process ensures that the next step, by the Selection Panel, is confined to the serious task of assessing each valid application, rather than checking them for eligibility.
The filtering panel makes no judgement about the merits of an application, but just checks that it meets the published criteria.
The Selection Panel is made up of Christian leaders appointed by the CMA Board. Panel members are not CMA Board members or CMA staff. The Selection Panel will assess all applications that have made it through the filtering process, and score the applications against the published criteria, and against the objectives of the Scholarship Program. The Selection Panel will check referees, and schedule interviews with applicants if required. The role of the Selection Panel is to determine which of the applicants will receive a scholarship, based on the number of applications, the Scholarship funds available, and the relative quality of the applications. The Selection Panel will not only be looking at the quality of the submissions, but on the possible outcomes for the work of the gospel long after the program or course of study has been completed.
CMA Staff and Board have no involvement in the selection process, and all decisions made by the Selection Panel are final. No correspondence will be entered into with applicants who were unsuccessful in gaining a scholarship. |
