Being a board or council member of a local church, or a Christian school, or a Christian mission or ministry, comes with wonderful opportunities, and serious responsibilities. In fact, in order to maintain your charitable tax status, the ACNC governance standards require that most organisations make sure that your board / council members understand and follow their legal duties.

But governance not just about obligations. Those in the boardroom have more opportunity than anyone else to steer the ministry towards its mission! It's a tremendous privilege, but poor governance can seriously hamper your efforts to achieve something for God's kingdom.

CMA's Ministry Governance Conference is an annual event, and in just one day, will provide valuable professional development for board members and executive staff members of Christian churches, schools and ministries. Featuring plenary sessions, plenary panel discussions, and two parallel tracks of electives, you will cover a wide range of ministry governance topics.

With the support of Baptist Financial Services, we are thrilled to announce that Dr Gary Hoag, will be among the array of speakers. Gary has recently released his book, 'The Council', examining the Councils in Scripture, and Gary will use this to anchor the day's discussion in a biblical framework. Other presenters will address more technical issues such as risk management, role clarity, strategy, directors' duties and more.

There will also be a plenary panel answering questions from the audience, both by pre-event survey, and from the floor.

CMA and the CMA Standards Council can help train, develop and encourage your board towards greater effectiveness, and give you some support in meeting these responsibilities. So, we invite you to join us for a fun, inspiring and practical day.

Pre-registration* is open now, so that you can lock it in your diary, and more information about the program will be uploaded as the event draws closer.

^Member means paid CMA member. Just receiving CMA emails doesn't mean you are a member.
* By pre-registering, you are expressing interest in this event. There is no charge at this point, and you are not making a commitment to attend. When the event goes live, and pricing is finalised, we will send you an email, inviting you to pay the relevant fee, and turn your 'pre-registration' into a full registration. If you don't wish to proceed at that point, we simply remove you from the event list.
